Community
The carefully designed and planned site of Kingsway is far more than another housing
development – it is a new Urban Village for the 21st Century.
The homes themselves have all been sympathetically designed to complement their
rural surroundings. All aspects of comfortable, modern living have been considered
to ensure that these houses reflect the needs of modern homeowners, not just through
interior design, but also in the setting and layout of Kingsway itself.
The homes on offer are diverse. A large amount of affordable housing has been allocated
to the site, which will sit alongside a mix of new homes to suit every lifestyle,
creating a vibrant and varied community.
The community aspect is key to the Kingsway development and much thought and forward
planning has gone into providing top-quality facilities for the neighbourhood. Included
in the plans are two new primary schools, a state-of-the-art health centre for doctors
and dentists, a community centre and retail outlets.
Outdoor space has not been forgotten either. Play areas are vitally important to
the village, which will include four football pitches, a cricket square and pavilion
and several tennis courts.
An effective transport policy is a vital part of Kingsway and the preservation of
the area’s environment. A rapid transit bus service will be
put in place across the whole district, providing an affordable and efficient service
that is accessible to everyone.
This local transport initiative is completed by the successful Park & Ride scheme,
already in place on the edge of the Kingsway, providing a swift and regular service
into Gloucester itself. This will be coupled with the new South West Bypass, which will link the area to the City Centre and other major
routes around the county.
