Kingsway back the Wanderers Whites!
Local area football stars of the future will have a new look for their new season.
Quedgeley Wanderers’ successful Under-14 team has picked up a brand set of kit from
the developers of Kingsway, Gloucestershire’s leading homes jobs and leisure destination
on the A38 south of Gloucester.
As team manager Paul Chessell explains, “The team has been performing well with
some high flying league performances in recent years. We have also been making our
mark in local summer events at Brockworth and St. Nicholas in Gloucester. The lads
are delighted with the new kit and we’re sure our smart new look will have us climbing
the league next season!”
Says Nicki Reed, Kingsway’s Marketing Committee Chairman, “Kingsway is all about
building a new community and a lot of money is being spent on developing exciting
leisure and sports facilities to serve the new development. We are delighted to
be involved with local area sports teams and wish the very best of luck to all the
Wanderers teams for the new season.”
Quedgeley Wanderers FC currently has some 450 members who make up a total of 26
teams from Under-8’s through to senior level. The first team play in the highly
competitive Stroud League. The Wanderers have both boys and girls football teams
and play their home matches at neighbouring Waterwells.
The Under-14 Wanderers - now sponsored by Kingsway - have been together for 6 years.
The team currently have 19 boys signed on and re coached by Darren Shellam and Paul
Vidgen.
The team captain is Callum Boyd, a six foot centre back –what a contrast to star
midfielder and top goal scorer Scott Edwards, who is less than 5ft!
“Very much the long and the short of it” says Paul, “but we’re all aiming for big
things with our new sponsorship next season.”
