Cycling FunDay Planned
The planned Family Cycle Fun Day planned on September 20th has been postponed. A replacement event will be scheduled, linked to the opening of the new primary school, which will probably take place early next year.
An exciting family cycling Funday is planned in September by the operators of Kingsway’s
much admired ‘green’ travel plan.
The travel plan, which has won national praise, aims to promote less use of the
car in and around the Kingsway development by those who live there.
Free bike and bus pass schemes have been used to back this ‘green’ travel initiative
has been, with both passes available to every household on the development.
Now, to mark European Mobility Week, Travel Plan Co-ordinator Sarah Fish is organising
the Funday.
Says Sarah, “We are still finalising the details, so please re-visit the web site
from time to time to find out what we are planning on the day. The event is, of
course, open to all residents of Kingsway, and also those around the city keen to
join in the fun and visit Gloucester’s fastest growing new homes jobs and leisure
destination.”
At the centre of the Funday is a demonstration of quick, safe cycling routes to
local shops and Gloucester. In addition, a bike clinic for all ages will be held
to get any minor mechanical problems on cycles sorted free of charge by the experts
of Lifecycle UK.
Also joining the event will be the Stagecoach bus company, which operates Kingsway’s
own No. 14 bus route, launched almost a year ago.
