Please park considerately!

To improve safety for the new Kingsway Primary school, which is to open soon, and concerns regarding access for emergency vehicles, new on-road parking restrictions have been brought in along Valley Gardens and Thatcham Avenue.

The availability of less on-road parking means that more vehicles will be using the off-road parking areas, so for the good of all those using these areas should please park as considerately as possible.

Yes, Kingsway is your community – but please remember that it’s also your neighbours’ community!

Transport

An effective transport policy is a vital part of Kingsway and is being planned in such a way as to preserve the area’s environment.

Experts have drawn up a wide ranging travel plan for Kingsway. These days the scope for Travel Planning in new residential developments such as this is being explored more and more.

Planners maintain that developments such as Kingsway need, for the future, to offer a wide range of transport benefits and an environment where the intrusion of cars and traffic is minimised.

The aim is to encourage less use of the motor car around the development and to offer the best possible facilities for walking, cycling and the use of public transport.

There is to be a network of footpaths and cycle tracks across Kingsway and a new bus service will serve the development.

The Travel Plan aims to meet the social, economic and environmental aspirations of residents on Kingsway. Experts accept that the support and co-operation of residents is key to its success and they are very hopeful the right approach is being adopted to achieve a really positive response to the imaginative planned transport services on Kingsway.

Bus Service Update

The new bus service through Kingsway is now up and running. Operated by Stagecoach, route Number 14 passes through the development on its way from Stroud and Gloucester.

Also operating on the edge of Kingsway is the successful Park & Ride scheme, which provides a swift and regular service into Gloucester. More information
